We are 5 Computer Scientists and a Physicist from Aberystwyth University, Wales, UK (5 of which are 1st years, the other 2nd year). We started work on our autonomous sailbot in October 2012 with the original aim of competing in Sailbot 2013, but as time moved on and the boat got closer to being finished, we decided to expand our horizons and aim for WRSC as well. With some late minute sponsorship from the Raspberry Pi Foundation, and some extra publicity with an entry about us on thier blog, we succesfully made it to Sailbot and and after some early troubles, we made it back and came third, which inspired us even more to head for WRSC. Over the summer, since Sailbot, the teams been working on some improvements, fixing the problems we discovered during Sailbot and adding some extra features to the software. There’s not much more we need now to get to WRSC, but funding for transport and accomodation is always the major obstacle for us.
